There's nothing like rivalry to promote a deal - trade-in FIFA 12 at HMV this weekend and get PES 2012 for 0.99 pence.

Similarly, trade-in F1 2011 and get Forza Motorsport 4 for 1.99.

Pity the latter deal isn't Gran Turismo 5 for Forza 4 - it would make better headlines. I'm shallow.

PES 2012 launches on Friday. The verdict? Not better than FIFA but back on track. And, crucially, a viable alternative to boring-snoring simulation.

Forza Motorsport 4 also arrives on Friday.
