Uncharted 3 multiplayer open to PS Plus

"Key aspects" of progress will carry over.

The Uncharted 3 multiplayer unlocks for PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe, South Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand this week, Sony has announced.

It provides an opportunity to play the hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive before its November launch.

Online goes live to PS Plus subs on Wednesday, 5th October.

Subscribing to PS Plus is the only way to guarantee access, Sony warned today.

But Sony said non-subscribers may be able to play multiplayer during October through promotions.

"This is a great way to get a head start on levelling up your Uncharted 3 multiplayer profile - Naughty Dog have made sure that key aspects of your progress during the competitive multiplayer experience, will carry over into the final retail copy of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception," Sony Computer Entertainment European product manager Phil Lynch wrote on the EU PlayStation blog.

"We'll have more details on how that works very, very soon."
