Xbox Live coming to Windows 8

Microsoft announces cross-device support.

Windows 8 will feature Xbox Live functionality when it launches next year, Microsoft has announced.

According to Major Nelson's blog, it'll be called Xbox Live on Windows and will bring the console service's gaming, music, movie and TV content to all Windows 8 devices.

"Bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy," read his post.

More detail on how it will work is expected at the BUILD conference later this week, where Microsoft will be talking developers through how to create Windows 8 games that take advantage of Xbox Live features.
