Wesley Snipes iOS game a reality

Julius Styles breaks free.

Wesley Snipes' iOS game Julius Styles: The International is real and is out now.

The iPhone and iPad isometric 3D action puzzle game costs £1.99 from the App Store.

Julius Styles is interesting because Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes helped Finnish studio Lapland make the game from behind bars.

He even found the time to issue a statement for the official press release.

"Evolving from the military special ops, security specialist backgrounds of characters I've played in the past, this guy was trained by the streets of today, to be the international player and dot com super spy of the future." said Snipes. "Fall back, Nino and excuse me, Mr. Bond! I'd like you to meet Mr. Styles, Julius Styles: The International.

"This marriage, my vision of a hardcore action movie combined with Lapland's implementation of a kickass video game, is going to hook you up and leave you thirsty for more.

"Episode 1 is just the beginning. I've been waiting ten years for a creative opportunity like this!"

In January Lapland said jailed Snipes was not needed for the next eight months of development – but met with him while he was doing time for tax evasion anyway.

"I agree with those who are sceptical because I have been," CEO Ilkka Immonen told Eurogamer. "There have been a lot of games that have just tried to get some marketing value. My idea is not to just get a big buck from this. I just want to create something that's in the gaming world is good and maybe in the future do a good game with it and relate it somehow into an actor or actress. The game is the main point here."

Snipes plans to begin work on a Julius Styles film after his release from prison – in 2013.
