Port Royale 3 announced for PC, consoles

Piracy encouraged.

Dormant RTS series Port Royale gets a third installment next year on PC and "next generation consoles", publisher Kalypso Media has announced.

Port Royale 3 places you in the boots of either a ship's captain, villainous brigand or merchant seaman as they attempt to prosper in the 17th-century Caribbean.

They'll be battles to fight, resources to manage and loads and loads of menus to click through. Slap your eyes on the screens below for a closer look.

In addition to the main campaign, there's a free play mode and competitive multiplayer planned.

Expect it on shelves in the second quarter of 2012.

First setting sail on PC back in 2002, we haven't seen the series since Port Royale 2 docked way back in 2004.
