Section 8: Prejudice dated for PSN

Multiplayer FPS sequel Section 8: Prejudice finally lands on PlayStation Network on 27th July priced at £12.99, developer TimeGate Studios has announced.

To make up for the wait, the PS3 version has a few extra bells and whistles over and above the Xbox Live Arcade original released earlier this year.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony patrons will get two new game modes: Skirmish and Assault.

The former is a team-versus-team death match mode for up to 32 players where Control Points can't be captured and Victory Points are awarded for kills and completed Dynamic Combat Missions.

Assault, on the other hand, is a team-versus-team game mode in which you'll race to capture all Control Points in the fastest time possible.

On top of that, there are a few early bird purchase incentives up for grabs too.

Pick up the game in its first week on sale and you'll receive the Blitz Armor Pack and Overdrive Map Pack for free.

The first 1000 PlayStation Plus members to open their wallets will also receive the exclusive Hunter Armor as well as a free copy of the original Section 8.

Meanwhile, Xbox 360 users have a couple of new maps to try out.

The Frontier Colonies Map Pack, out today, adds Desolation and Overseer. The former is set in a bleak desert landscape, while the latter has you running around old military facilities in a forest valley.

The pack will set you back 320 Microsoft Points, with a PC release following on 27th July.

TimeGate Studio's shooter scored an admirable 9/10 from Eurogamer when it launched on Xbox 360.

"It is, quite simply, the best multiplayer shooter since Battlefield: Bad Company 2," wrote Dan Whitehead in his Section 8: Prejudice review. "As a budget digital download, it's ridiculously good value."
