Sony has announced that a new instalment in Q-Games' PixelJunk series is on the way.

Titled PixelJunk SideScroller, it's based on the unlockable stage from PixelJunk Shooter 2. Expect a world filled with flowing liquids, hazardous gases and hot magma, along with lots of blasting and spaceships.

You'll be able to collect coins and upgrade your weapons as you progress through levels. Plenty of puzzle-solving and boss battles are promised, along with the option to share your scores online and upload game footage to YouTube.

PixelJunk SideScroller is out this summer.
