Cheap This Week - 01/06/11

Battlefield! GTA! Broken Sword! AssBro!

AssBro, PC - £11.90 delivered. Apply coupon "15MAY-1".

Tom gave this a highly sought after Eurogamer 10/10 when it released last year, but personally I thought it was a bit pants. Here's what he said about it:

"Never before have we seen a game whose open world is so densely packed with things to do while maintaining such high quality. Whatever your particular taste, you simply cannot run from one area to another without encountering something else that you want to stop and do. Thanks to the Animus, which frees the developer to break the fourth wall at will, Brotherhood builds an intriguing mystery around compelling characters, surrounds them with collectibles and secrets, and encourages play – and nothing feels out of place."

I'd certainly concede that if you've loved the AC series up until Brotherhood, then it's definitely the best one yet, but if neither of the first two games were your cup of tea, then I don't think there are big enough changes with Brotherhood to win over anyone not keen on the previous two games.

Deal of the Week

Marvel VS Capcom 3 - £13.60 delivered on PS3 and Xbox 360. Apply coupon "15MAY-1".

This was included in last week's deal of the week too, albeit bundled with L.A. Noire instead of cheaply discounted on its own.

Xbox 360 vs. PS3: Comparison of Two Framerates.

Simon gave this a hearty 8/10, saying this of it in his review:

"Ultimately, Marvel vs. Capcom 3's appeal will depend on your own disposition. Far more welcoming to button-mashers than Street Fighter IV, this is a game in which you can tap stuff and watch sparkly miracles happen. But to begin to understand and master its systems will take just as much practice as it did in Ono's game – and quicker reactions to boot."

If you're not sure if this is for you, HMV are currently offering £18 and £16 trade in for the PS3 and Xbox 360 version respectively, and Gamestation should beat those prices by £1, offering you £19/£17 trade in.
