Catwoman playable in Arkham City

Selina Kyle missions unveiled.

Batman: Arkham City's main campaign sees you controlling Catwoman for a number of missions, developer Rocksteady Studios has revealed.

As showcased in a new trailer hosted over on GameSpot, you'll need to step into the skimpy catsuit for a side story that sees Bats' occasional nemesis attempting to thieve a haul of stolen goods that the Gotham police have seized from the city's criminals.

Naturally, she controls rather differently to The Dark Knight, trading his grappling hook in for a whip which lets her swing from rooftop to rooftop. She's also nimbler on her feet, with Rocksteady implementing a scoring system that rewards you for navigating the city gracefully.

She sports her own version of Batman's detective goggles, called Thief Vision, which highlights loot that you need to steal.

Developer Dax Ginn estimated that her missions take up about 10 per cent of the total game, though you'll also be able to switch to Catwoman while exploring the city, allowing you to reach items beyond Batman's reach.

Arkham City is due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 21st October. Take a look at our recent hands-on preview for more on how the sequel to 2009's acclaimed Arkham Asylum is shaping up.
