Laid-off Split/Second devs resurface

Black Rock employees start new studio.

Two key creatives who lost their jobs last month during a wave of redundancies at Disney-owned Split/Second studio Black Rock Entertainment have set up on their own.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Split/Second director Nick Baynes will be Roundcube Entertainment's studio head while senior producer Ian Monaghan will serve as development director.

No announcements have yet been made regarding their first project.

Around 100 Black rock staff were asked to clean out their desks last month, after Disney failed to find a suitable project for the studio to work on following underwhelming sales of its acclaimed 2010 racer Split/Second.

A handful of staff have apparently been kept on to work on an unannounced title.
