Daily Mail links MW3 to 7/7 bombings

"A chilling echo of the terrorist attacks."

Modern Warfare 2 had No Russian, Modern Warfare 3 has "a chilling echo of the 7/7 terrorist attacks in London", according to the Daily Mail.

The article responds to the Modern Warfare 3 video released yesterday (below), which shows conflicts happening in famous cities around the world - including an attack on a London Underground train.

The Daily Mail piece claimed people affected by the 7/7 bombings in London are calling for MW3 to be banned.

The article includes a quote by Vivienne Pattison from Mediawatch UK. She has "concerns" because "these games are hyper-real" and the setting is familiar. "In light of the fact we have just had the 7/7 inquests, it is in incredibly poor taste," she said.

Modern Warfare 2 provoked outrage worldwide for its No Russian level, which challenged players to shoot and kill civilians while playing the role of a terrorist. The game rekindled public outrage against violent video games and even became the topic of debate on television chat shows.

Modern Warfare 3 will probably do the same.

The controversial MW3 video.
