New Pokémon game reveal delayed

Mystery announcement coming in June.

The planned reveal of a new Pokémon game has been pushed back until after E3 in June.

Details were originally due in the new issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro, reports Serebii.net.

The announcement is delayed until the following edition, dated 15th June - a conspicuous shuffling to the other side of E3's megaton-filled media circus.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata previously promised 3DS and Wii Pokémon games were on the way.

What could the new title(s) be? Recent fake magazine scans circling the darker corners of Pokémon fandom suggested an ill-advised remake of GameCube title Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was on the cards. Eurogamer branded the original with a paltry 4/10 back in 2005.

How about the standard third title to accompany current Pokémon generation duo Black and White? Developer GameFreak has previously cast doubt on the subject, stating the usual refinements seen are already in place.

And with Pokémon Black and White still in the UK chart top 10, could the next generation of critters be a way off?

A likelier bet is a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game. The well received spin-off series is yet to appear on the 3DS. Its randomly-generated environments offer a greater focus on puzzles and the chance to play as the Pokémon characters themselves. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness captured a 7/10 from Eurogamer in 2008.
