New Alien game to tie-in with film?

Creative Assembly suggests not.

The developer behind the new Alien game announced this morning has hinted that the title will not be a direct tie-in with Ridley Scott's new franchise movie currently in production.

Creative Assembly studio director Tim Heaton wouldn't give Eurogamer a definitive answer when quizzed on whether the game and movie would be linked, but his response suggests it's unlikely.

"What we can say is that we understand that games that are time-constrained to be day-and-date with the movie are often flawed so it's probably something that we wouldn't really want to be tied to."

The Total War developer hasn't offered any concrete details as to what it has planned for the title, merely revealing earlier today that development has begun, it's a "console core game" and that we shouldn't expect to see it at E3 next month.

Similarly, details are scarce on Scott's new Alien flick. Currently titled Prometheus, it's thought to be set in the Alien universe though not necessarily a straight prequel to the 1979 original – as once thought.

The cast looks great though: Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce have all signed on, with the film due in cinemas next June.
