Steel Diver gets UK 3DS date

"Awfully compelling" sub sim surfaces.

Steel Diver, Nintendo's 3DS submarine combat simulator, launches in the UK on 6th May, the publisher has confirmed.

The core campaign is a side-scrolling affair that sees you carefully maneuvering your sub around various treacherous deep-sea environments via touch screen controls.

There's also a 3D Periscope Strike mode in which you'll need to use the handheld's gyroscope to locate and scuttle approaching enemy ships.

Not only that but Nintendo has been kind enough to include a fresh take on the old pen-and-paper battleships game, called Steel Commander.

Alongside Nintendogs, it's the only internally developed Nintendo game available in the 3DS's launch window.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime singled it out for special attention pre-launch, babbling "Steel Diver is a brand new experience, and from a compelling standpoint, we think it's awfully compelling."
