Steam users get free access to a new Darkspore beta all this week, Valve has announced.

The beta is available for download now and runs until Friday. The PC-only action RPG spin-off of Will Wright's ambitious evolution sim Spore then launches for real on 28th April.

Valve also took the time to flag up an exclusive new pre-purchase offer that's just gone live. If you buy three copies of the game on Steam for you and your chums you'll get a fourth thrown in free.
