Resistance dev opens Insomniac Click

Web and mobile division to focus on fun.

Resistance and Ratchet & Clank maker Insomniac has opened a web and mobile development division called Insomniac Click.

The focus with Insomniac Click is to create "social interactions" that are fun for both players.

"We want to create worlds to explore, challenges to master and a continuing story to discover. We promise to deliver the richness of gameplay content that you would expect from a console game, but freely playable online," Insomniac pledged.

Insomniac was keen to stress it will not leave core game development behind. Click is an "expansion of the company rather than a shift", Insomniac said.

"All our existing teams are still 100 per cent dedicated to making unforgettable AAA console experiences with our proprietary blend of double rainbows and awesomesauce."

As well as PlayStation 3 exclusives Resistance 3 and Ratchet & Clank All 4 One, Insomniac is hard at work on a mysterious multiplatform game for EA Partners.

The unannounced title marks the introduction of a brand new universe, and is in development at Insomniac's Burbank studio.
