February's reader review of the month begins by transporting us to a galaxy far, far away a long time ago (1997), and given that we're finally updating you about last month's top submission halfway through March, perhaps that's appropriate.

This month's finalists, chosen as ever by Eurogamer community manager Tom "Fight Night" Champion, are O11Y's take on Alpha Protocol, MattEdWithCheese's Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and dr_swin's review of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Who will prevail?!

This guy:

O11Y's review of Alpha Protocol!

Let's dive into that celebrated introduction:

"I remember, 12 odd years ago, discussing the finer points of a hilariously bad cinematic from an expansion pack to LucasArts' Jedi Knight. A pixelated mess representing the greatest Sith Lord of the galaxy juddered his way towards a similar cuboid like a demented pogo stick. With rising violin strings, the camera focused in on the angular head of our antagonist whilst a skilled voice actor delivered impeccable lines worthy of any space opera. The textured face, like a poorly drawn Kryton from Red Dwarf, remained comically frozen in surprised bemusement.

"Against this backdrop, a game like Alpha Protocol could have flourished, and perhaps the internet forums of today would be overflowing with nostalgic testimonials. Sure it was broken, but the game was original – unlike the gumpf that gets made today! Yet times have changed, and Obsidian's latest effort to establish itself in the upper echelons perches uncomfortably amongst modern high fliers like Mass Effect 2 and Fable 3."

Before dashing off on holiday this week, Eurogamer deputy editor Ellie Gibson decided on the winner. "Great balance between description and observation, sentences flow nicely, neat imagery and good jokes," she shouted over her shoulder as she disappeared into the distance/Trisha. "You can quote me on that if you need to." We do and we have.

Congratulations O11Y. Look out for a prize in the near future. For a chance to win a game of our choice, submit your reviews elsewhere on the site.
