New 360, PS3 BlazBlue in development

"We'd get booed if it doesn't release."

Japanese developer Arc System Works has confirmed that a brand new PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 BlazBlue game is in development.

The fighting game maker's announced release slate includes Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Portable ports of Japan-only arcade fighting game BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 and PS3 and Xbox 360 ports of Arcana Heart 3.

Now, we can add a brand new home console BlazBlue game to the list.

"We'd get booed if it doesn't release," BlazBlue director Toshimichi Mori told Eurogamer. "So that means yes. We're not saying when, but it will be coming out."

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 is without a European release date, although it will launch on these shores.

It is an enhanced version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, which launched in Europe last year and scored 8/10 in Eurogamer's review.

Arcana Heart 3 launches here in June as a boxed PS3 and Xbox 360 game – in the US it's a PSN-exclusive download. It has an all female cast, each aligned with an Arcana or elemental that determines their special powers. The classic side-on presentation comes adorned with intricate, vivid, 2D hand-drawn sprites.

Arcana Hearts is a series made by developer Examu and published by Arc System Works.

Fighting game fans consider Arc System Works' now defunct Guilty Gear series to be one of the best in the genre.
