Nintendo 3DS sells 400,000 in a weekend

Dimension that shelves are refilling?

More than 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units have been sold during opening weekend in Japan.

That initial allocation of stock was quickly snaffled by pre-order customers standing in queues that stretched over 750 people long, Nikkei reported.

But by as soon as Sunday stocks had been replenished, according to Andriasang - as Nintendo sets about fulfilling a Japanese shipment target of 1.5 million 3DS units by the end of March.

By that time, Nintendo expects to have shipped a further 3.5 million 3DS units worldwide, too.

Eurogamer went 3DS bananas over the weekend, offering a Nintendo 3DS review, a video of the 3DS being unpacked and a photo-shoot of the 3DS that involved the PSP, iPhone and older DS models.

The 3DS: it's so sexy that those sheathes of cardboard might as well be clothes.
