LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean 3DS outed

Launches in May.

A Nintendo 3DS version of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean will launch this May, Disney Interactive has announced.

The TT Games developed title features a Pirate Duel mode: a chance encounter system that utilises the Nintendo 3DS' Street Pass system.

This allows the 3DS to automatically detect and communicate with other units. Once done, Pirate Duel pits the players against each other in a battle between LEGO pirates. Pirate Duels earn Play Coins, used to unlock new characters, and experience points, used to move up the ranks and gain extra health, new moves, titles and characters.

The multiplatform launch of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean is designed to coincide with the release of the fourth film in the series: On Stranger Tides. Johnny Depp once again reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
