HD Splinter Cell Trilogy confirmed

They're in fashion.

Ubisoft has confirmed the much-rumoured Splinter Cell Trilogy for PlayStation 3.

It includes high definition updates of the original Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and will release next year, according to IGN.

Its release follows the launch of Ubisoft's recently released PS3-exclusive Prince of Persia Trilogy. That game was released on Blu-ray disc and as PSN downloads in Europe, with a £29.99 price point and stereoscopic 3D support. Will the Splinter Cell Trilogy follow suit?

The confirmation ends months of speculation - in September online shop Zavvi listed both the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia Trilogies on its website.

The original Splinter Cell was released in 2002. Of course, Eurogamer existed back then, and saw fit to award Sam Fisher's stealthy debut a stonking 9/10. "We reckon it stands tall as one of the games of the year, and along with Halo one of the main reasons to own an Xbox - although a PC version is due out at the end of January," we gushed..
