Black creator surfaces at City Interactive

He's making a WWII FPS for Sniper studio.

Stuart Black, the man behind classic PlayStation 2 FPS Black, has joined City Interactive following his departure from Codemasters last month.

According to Gamasutra, Black will serve as creative director of the Polish publisher's new London office.

The veteran developer has announced that his first game for City will be, "an exciting new story-driven WWII shooter that will emphasize high adventure in a genre that's become bogged down in reverence and historical accuracy."

Black left Codemasters earlier this year, mid-way through development of over-the-top shooter Bodycount. No reason was given for the departure, but "post-E3 fallout" was rumoured to be a factor.

City Interactive, meanwhile, seem to have been putting the ill-gotten gains from successful-but-rubbish FPS Sniper: Ghost Warrior to good use. Aside from this high-profile signing, it also recently licensed Crytek's CryENGINE3 for two unannounced games, which Black's effort may well be one of.
