WarDevil resurrected as Project Kane

"Xbox 2" game coming Q4 2011.

Who remembers WarDevil? Well, apparently it's not dead - despite reports from October that claimed otherwise.

According to UTV Ignition the project - announced in 2004 for "Xbox 2" - will live on under the name Project Kane.

Project Kane is expected to launch at the end of 2011. The report didn't mention any platforms.

"Following a comprehensive audit of the title, assets and internal team, we have decided that a core team responsible for the Project Kane prototype will take the game into full production, led by the key vision holders," UTV Ignition chairman Hassan Sadiq commented.

"There has been speculation recently about this project, but our vision has always been to create top quality content both with internal and external partners and this latest commitment combines the best of the DNA behind the original project vision with some of the creative talent available in the broader industry.

"Outsourcing ensures flexibility and broader expertise that will dovetail perfectly with internal skill sets to speed up the process and ensure a title of true excellence."

Design director Julian Glover will "cherry pick" staff from the "world's best teams" in order to "fast-track" development on the game.

WarDevil was, once upon a time, billed as an eye-popping near-future gun-blasting bonanza to run at 60 frames-per-second.
