New lead character for Darksiders 2

Beefy apocalyptic equestrian War will not be returning for Darksiders 2, at least not as the primary character, publisher THQ has confirmed.
Joystiq reported that THQ vice president Danny Bilson told the IGDA Leadership Forum in San Francisco, "When we do the Darksiders sequel, it'll be a different character and take place simultaneously to the other story. There's only one apocalypse - I couldn't very well have four different apocalypses, one for each rider.
"It has some new mechanics and some very robust features that differentiate it a lot and grow it from the first game because you have to build on the first one, you can't repeat it. I think that's very important in franchise-building."
You might have a while to wait to see how all this pans out. Last week THQ CEO Brian Farrell announced the game might not be ready until 2013.
The original saw the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse dispatched to settle a cataclysmic quarrel between the forces of Heaven and Hell. It launched earlier this year on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, winning an 8/10 from Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell.
