Darkspore open beta sign-ups have begun.

Why? Darkspore is the next game from the makers of Spore. And it's very different - more akin to Diablo than Darwin's theory of evolution.

Plenty of Spore's ideas carry across, however, such as near limitless customisation of your hero creature.

Darkspore also has co-op for four people as well as multiplayer for the competitively minded.
