MUBI video streaming on PS3 this week

Films for connoisseurs.

Fussy film-streaming service MUBI will be available on PlayStation 3 this week, Sony has announced.

When? Wednesday in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal must wait until "next week", the European PlayStation blog notes.

MUBI takes the form of an application on PS3. It's free to download and offers seven-day film rentals for £2.99/€3.59, or an unlimited monthly pass for £10/€12.99.

There will be free films offered occasionally, too.

MUBI exists already on PC. It's vision is to entice film buffs with work by arty-brains Roman Polanski, David Lynch, Jean-Luc Goddard, Quentin Tarantino, Coen Brothers et al. and then have them discuss their experiences after viewing on a giant social network.

You're in the Mubi.
