Online co-op confirmed for Dead Nation

Brains!

Super Stardust HD creator Housemarque's confirmed online co-op for its upcoming PlayStation Network-exclusive zombie kill-em-up Dead Nation.

"Originally, online co-op wasn't going to be included as a launch feature as the schedule and resources didn't allow it," wrote CEO and co-founder Ilari Kuittinen on the EU PlayStation Blog.

"However, after many late night testing sessions and long talks with Sony, we decided that this was a must-have feature and it would be unfair on you if we launched without it. At this point our coders went from 12 hour working days to 16 hour days, as well as weekends. Fortunately, I think what we came up works really well."

Dead Nation's online co-op matches its offline co-op. There are hundreds of zombies on screen, big explosions and gore. Lots of gore. It looks like Left 4 Dead with top-down dual analogue shooter controls.

Kuittinen said Dead Nation will be released "later this year".
