SEGA making Cap America "fans deserve"

Stars in their eyes.

SEGA has announced a Captain America: Super Soldier game for DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

It's coming out next summer.

It's a movie tie-in.

But SEGA is confident this one will be better. "Working closely with Marvel ensures we're delivering the calibre of product that gamers and comic fans deserve," SEGA marketeer Gary Knight commented, "and it's a partnership we're proud of here at SEGA."

A developer isn't mentioned, but logos for Next Level Games - Punch-Out!!, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe - are stamped on the artwork.

Conduit developer High Voltage is rumoured to be making the Wii version - the same team that made Iron Man 2 for Wii.

Captain America: Super Soldier (the game) is a third-person action adventure with lots of jumping and running around and a hefty dose of combat. The latter will rely on Captain America's iconic star-shield, which can be used defensively and offensively to batter helpless and not-so helpless - Iron Cross, Red Skull - foes.

The story we're told is original and dreamt up by Marvel comic writer Christos Gage. He's worked on series such as Avengers: The Initiative, Siege: Captain America, The Invincible Iron Man, X-Men, Spider-Man and more. The plot aims to compliment the film.

That film will be out 22nd July 2011. Director Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, Hidalgo, Jurassic Park III, Jumanji) helms the project and Chris Evans (no, not the ginger one from The Big Breakfast) will portray Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Samuel L. Jackson's also on board, as are Hugo Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones.
