XBLA "Game Feast" this October

Super Meat Boy leads the platter.

Microsoft will hold a new Game Feast promotion for Xbox Live Arcade this October.

Developer Team Meat spilled the beans while announcing a 20th October release date for XBLA game Super Meat Boy.

"Super Meat Boy will release on XBLA as the 'main course' of The Game Feast, a new promotion MS is doing this October (because 'fall of arcade' just sounds wrong)," the developer wrote on its blog.

Billed as a "tough as nails" platformer, Super Meat Boy stars a cube of meat who must save his bandage-formed girlfriend from an evil foetus in a jar.

There are hundreds of levels, "epic boss fights", warp zones that transport you "into other games" and "a story so moving you will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life".

PC, WiiWare and Mac releases are coming later this year.

There's no word on price.

Super Meat Boy was picked out by Eurogamer at a WiiWare showcase last year. The game's adapted from Edmund McMillen's Flash prototype Meat Boy.

Er, high steaks?
