New species for SWTOR revealed

Play as a non-human, Sith you like.

BioWare has revealed a range of non-human species you'll be able to choose from in forthcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

According to the SWTOR website, these will include Sith Pureblood. Yes, "for the first time ever in a videogame," you'll be able to play as the red-skinned descendants of Naga Sadow and that old rascal Marka Ragnos.

"The rage of these fallen ancestors of the Sith Pureblood lives on in the Sith Warriors who dominate the battlefield with their intimidating presence and aggressive tactics," apparently.

Then there are the green-skinned Miraluka, who are so in touch with the Force they make badass Jedi Knights. They wear veils and blindfolds and are guided by the Force in battle. Miralians are also known for their natural agility, patience and insight.

Meanwhile, meet the Zabraks, "a proud species from an inhospitable world." They are determined and ferocious, self-reliant and aggressive, have horns and sport facial tattoos, so yes probably originate from Lewisham.

"As excited for these playable species as we hope you are, the list is not yet complete," says BioWare. "We look forward to announcing further options in the coming months."

Star Wars: The Old Republic is due out in spring 2011.
