PlanetSide reaches open beta

EverQuest leash-holder Sony Online has announced that its massively multiplayer online first person shooter PlanetSide has reached the open beta phase, and that 30,000 new players have been introduced to the environment to help test it ahead of the game's mid-May launch in the US and Canada.

PlanetSide is of course that big ole sci-fi shoot 'em up which is mentioned occasionally. Obviously with a mid-May release on the cards we're expecting to see it at E3, or at least we're expecting to go out and buy copies to play in our hotel rooms [tents, actually -boss].
