CDV doubles Independence prize purse
$20,000 worth of goodies for strategists
As regular readers will be aware, American Conquest publisher CDV is conducting an online tournament at the moment to determine whom amongst the AC fan base is good enough to take on the cream of the USA. Two lucky UK-based winners will be whisked away during the month of May to compete in sunny Los Angeles - while E3 ripples and surges a few yards away.
However, CDV has now announced that the prize purse is too insignificant. $10,000 is, apparently, not enough for the world's top strategists, so the prize purse (mostly in goodies) now tops a whopping $20,000. Prizes include a Gainward Ultra/750 8X XP Golden Sample 128Mb Graphics cards, Videologic ZXR-550 65W 5.1 speakers, a Sony DSC-P72 Digital Camera, Saitek P3000 Wireless Pad & Docking Stations and an Advanced Micronics DIASANES AXP32 PC - the latter is worth $4,000 alone. All thanks to sponsors The Overclocking Store, Pure Digital (formerly Videologic), Saitek, Gainward and Logitech.
The tournament began on Friday, and the online league for up to 5,000 players runs until April 7th, after which time the top 24 players from UK/US will be split into Premier Leagues until the best have been identified.
