Shorter games, more often?

Shigeru Miyamoto will be on Oxford Street signing our bare, naked bodies on Friday next, but ahead of that unmissable spectacle, Ninty's father of gaming has told journalists that he expects both Mario 128 and Pikmin 2 to be released in Japan by the end of 2003, with a sequel to The Legend of Zelda potentially reaching completion in 2004.

This once again reminds us of Nintendo's long forgotten promise of "Shorter games, more often", which became "Shorter games, whenever" once we'd all bought our Cubes. However, if The Sloth From Kyoto can up its pace a bit and start packing its schedules with regular franchise updates, (which don't ape the behaviour of perennial recyclers EA/Activision/etc), then hoo-bloody-rah.

But, please, not "Mario 128"…
