EA cans BF1942 on Xbox

Another Xbox title bites the dust

Electronic Arts' stance against the Xbox appears to have cooled even further following the news that it has reportedly canned the port of the excellent WWII shooter Battlefield 1942, according to Gamespot.

The official line is that the dev team wanted to concentrate on getting its forthcoming Road To Rome expansion pack out - but given that this product has already hit review stage (and Martin is beavering away on it as we speak) it seems more than a little late in the day to use that as an excuse.

Xbox owners will no doubt be a little miffed - indeed a quick glance at UK retail giant Game's website features BF1942 as No.1 in its Xbox pre-order chart.

Of course, this is not the first time EA has canned an Xbox title recently, and it will be interesting to see how many products it has lined up for the platform at E3.
