Squaresoft has changed its mind over the pricing structure of its PlayStation 2 service, PlayOnline. Contradicting CEO Yoichi Wada's previously stated position on the matter, Final Fantasy XI players will be charged a small monthly fee, but some services will be available for free. PlayOnline beta testers are currently putting Final Fantasy XI through its paces. The first massively multiplayer iteration of Squaresoft's famous series will be made available to the public along with the rest of the PlayOnline service in March.
