Payne gets some consolation

Max Payne heading to PS2 and Xbox

Publisher Take 2 Interactive announced yesterday that their chart-topping PC action game Max Payne is being adapted for both the PlayStation 2 (by RockStar Canada) and Microsoft's Xbox (by Vienna-based Neo Software, appropriately enough). Both console versions are expected to be released in the USA some time "this Fall", although European release dates have yet to be confirmed.

Take 2 CEO Kelly Sumner mumbled something about leveraging brand franchises, adding that "to date, Max Payne has represented the largest critical and sell-through sucess Take-Two has ever had on the PC". If the game's manual is anything to go by, we can look forward to further leveraging in the form of a Max Payne movie (oh dear) and of course a sequel.
