Where the hell is Team Fortress 2?

If you've been wondering when we might finally see "Team Fortress 2", the follow-up to the popular prehistoric QuakeWorld mod that your grandparents used to play when you were just knee-high to a grasshopper, Gabe Newell of Valve Software has some bad news for you. "We have a lot of work to do".

The game, which was originally going to be a Quake 2 mod, then a Half-Life mod, then a Half-Life mission pack, and now a full stand-alone game based on a heavily modified version of the Half-Life engine, is apparently still far from complete. Gabe does put pay to one rumour though, saying that "The statement about TF 2 being put on hold for Dreamcast Half-Life was not true .. TF 2 hasn't been delayed because of higher priorities, it's just a whole heck of a lot of work".

To find out more, and to see some funny camcorder footage (God, I feel like Jeremy Beadle..) involving Valve programmer Mike Dussault, a scooter, and a stationary car, check the interview with Gabe Newell over on TF Funnies.
