Blade level design

According to Fernando Del Ama, one of the level designers working at Spanish developer Rebel Act Studios, "the only limit in how large a level [in Blade] can be is our imagination, and how it will affect the gameplay".

"We're trying to make them in a way so that most people will be able to finish a normal level in two or three hours, excluding the secret areas, but they could be as long as we want. You also have to know that the compiling time increases a lot if the level has more than 3000 different rooms."

Up to three thousand rooms in a single level? No wonder the game has taken three years to develop... For the full story, read the "developers at work" feature on Fernando over at Blade Universe.
