Apple's new iPhones break sales records

But fingerprint scanner already fooled.

Apple has pipped its own colossal sales records with the launch of the iPhone 5C and 5S, which together shifted more than nine million units in only three days.

On top of that, the fruity bazillionaire announced that more than 200 million iOS devices are now running iOS 7, which is apparently the fastest software update in history.

Just pop it on your keyring.

"This is our best iPhone launch yet," beamed Apple's Tim Cook. "More than nine million new iPhones sold is a new record for first weekend sales."

iPhone 5S' most recognisable feature is its fingerprint scanner, which does away with the need to pump in a pin each time you need to securely use the phone. Mind you, it's only taken a couple of days for a group of German hackers, known as the Chaos Computer Club, to trick it.

CCC's message (via the Telegraph): "We hope that this finally puts to rest the illusions people have about fingerprint biometrics. It is plain stupid to use something that you can't change and that you leave everywhere every day as a security token."
