Antichamber has sold over 100,000 copies in seven weeks

On par with Fez in the same time frame.

Mind-bending first-person spacial puzzler Antichamber has shifted over 100,000 copies since its 31st January release on Steam.

Antichamber creator Alexander Bruce made the announcement in an interview with Polygon. "It only recently hit 100K, but I knew how it was going, because in the first week alone, it did pretty phenomenal," said Bruce. "I think even the first 24 hours blew some people's expectations out of the water for what this game was going to sell, which is why I was always so cautious of setting any sales expectations for it."

To put this in perspective, Phil Fish's somewhat similar XBLA puzzler Fez also sold 100,000 copies in seven weeks. Only Bruce didn't have a movie documenting his game's development, Antichamber retailed for approximately double Fez's price, and while Antichamber's critical reception was solid, it didn't receive as high accolades as Fish's masterpiece. That it could stand toe-to-toe with Fez sales-wise speaks either to the strengths of Antichamber's beguiling visuals or the popularity of Steam. I'm leaning towards the latter.
