Another 62 Blockbuster stores to shut, remainder at risk

"We have still not received any acceptable offers."

DVD and games rental chain Blockbuster is to lose another 62 UK stores, its administrator announced today - another 427 jobs lost.

That's on top of the 72 outlets confirmed to close last month, and the 324 shut during Blockbuster's first spell in administration earlier this year.

And more bad news may be on the way. The chain's administrator, Moorfields Corporate Recovery, has admitted that it had "still not recieved any acceptable offers" to save what was left the company.

"As a result we may be forced to close the remaining 91 stores affecting 808 employees," it admitted in a statement today.

Blockbuster began the year with 528 stores across the UK, and a workforce of 4190.
