Angry Birds movie to be penned by The Simpsons and King of the Hill writer

Who also played a hand in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

The Angry Birds movie will be written by Jon Vetti, veteran scribe of several episodes of The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Da Ali G Show, Rovio has announced.

Vetti penned several classic episodes of the The Simpsons including Radio Bart, Mr. Plow, and Cape Feare.

Unfortunately, he also wrote Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Well, he was one of three people responsible for that anyway. Given that a writer's script is more closely adhered to in television than movies, it's likely that Vitti's TV work is more indicative of his talents. Then again, the Angry Birds movie is a movie, so it could very well go through a million revisions before ending up a completely unrecognisable beast.

On the plus side, the Angry Birds movie is being produced by David Maisel (Iron Man) and John Cohen (Despicable Me), so with any luck it won't totally suck.

The Angry Birds movie is due on 1st July 2016. You don't have any plans that day, right?
