Afro Samurai 2 gets a debut trailer

Grizzly, man.

Manga spin-off Afro Samurai 2 has received its first trailer, albeit a story-focused teaser with no gameplay.

Between this, Persona 4 and Danganronpa, sinister Teddy Bears are all the rage in Japan these days.

Due later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC, Afro Samurai 2 follows the story of Kuma, a cybernetic samurai donning a Teddy Bear mask. Kuma was once a friend of Afro's, but now blames him for some unpleasantness resulting in the death of his entire family. As such, this sequel is about getting revenge on this first game's hero.

While the bulk of the game will follow Kuma, there will be other playable characters as well. How much do you want to bet Afro is one of them?

Afro Samurai 2 is being developed by Redacted Studios, a company formed by former Bandai Namco producer David Robinson.

The first Afro Samurai game came out n 2009. Our Oli Welsh found it to be a rather mediocre experience. "It's beautiful, bloody and undemanding, a vacant button-masher with just enough attitude twinkling out from under its heavy stoner's eyelids to get by," he said in his Afro Samurai review. "But like most heavy stoners it's also frustrating, unrewarding and a bit dull to spend time with."
