Ace Combat 7 earned series' best UK debut

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown took off in the UK last Friday with the strongest launch sales of any game in the series so far.

The latest in Bandai Namco's long-running flight sim franchise flew off the shelves - but within reason. It arrived second in the chart in a quiet January week, behind the second week sales of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.

Otherwise, there's little more to report. Nothing else new entered the entirety of the top 40 (which only counts boxed games sold). It's a true post-Christmas lull, filled with Nintendo Switch stalwarts and two Activision remasters.

If you've never given the Ace Combat series much of a look - I admit, it's not my own cup of tea - I'd still hugely recommend this from Digital Foundry's John Linneman: an expert catch-up on what you've been missing, as well as a verdict on which version looks and plays best.
