A new RollerCoaster Tycoon game has been announced!

But... UPDATE: A PC "experience" is in the works, apparently.

UPDATE: Is there hope for the new RollerCoaster Tycoon? Atari has confirmed a PC "experience" is in development and due out this year.

"RollerCoaster Tycoon is back and it's coming to mobile!" the company tweeted, perhaps in response to the negative reaction to the announcement of the mobile game.

"Rest assured, there is a PC experience in production now for release this year!"

We'll see...

ORIGINAL STORY: Atari has announced a new RollerCoaster Tycoon, but it doesn't look or sound like the kind of game fans of the series had hoped for.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is "coming soon" to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Atari said. It's developed by App Store specialist On5.

"Create and share the coolest amusement park of your dreams and construct incredible roller coasters to keep your visitors excited," reads the official blurb.

"Build the best park, unlock new materials, and exchange roller coaster blueprints with friends to become the ultimate RollerCoaster Tycoon!"

The video, below, gives us an idea of the games visuals.

Ah well. There's always Transport Tycoon, developed by RollerCoaster Tycoon creator Chris Sawyer.
