3DS June firmware update detailed

UPDATE: Europe e-Shop contents confirmed.

UPDATE: Nintendo has issued a press release to Eurogamer confirming the following e-Shop titles for Europe next week: 3D Classic Excitebike (free in Europe until 7th July), Game Boy versions of Super Mario Land, Alleyway and Tennis for the Virtual Console, and the Pokédex 3D app revealed yesterday.

The 3DS eShop will then be updated every Thursday.

ORIGINAL STORY: Nintendo launches a firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS on 7th June. It adds the long-delayed e-Shop online marketplace and web browser.

What's on the e-Store? A European rundown is yet to be released. Nintendo Japan already has the following listing confirmed (translated by Andriasang), which gives us a good idea:

Virtual Console

  • Mega Man in Dr. Wily's Revenge (Capcom, Game Boy, 400 Nintendo Points)
  • Kirby's Dream Land (Nintendo, Game Boy, 400 NP)
  • Baseball (Nintendo, Game Boy, 300 NP)
  • Phantasm (Jaleco, Game Boy, 400 NP)
  • Downtown Special Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou! (Arc, Game Boy, 400 NP)
  • Super Mario Land (Nintendo, Game Boy, 400 NP)

3D Classics (NES titles re-made for the 3DS)

  • Excitebike (Nintendo, free until 31st July, then 600 NP)
  • Xevious (Nintendo, 600 NP)

3DSi Ware

  • Mystery P.I Kieta Film (G Mode, 600 NP)
  • 3D Block Kuzushi (Silverstar Japan, 500 NP)

The e-Store will also contain a free DSi to 3DS transfer app to port across your DSi Ware games, photos, sound data, and Wi-Fi user information.

A catalogue of information on 3DS and Wii games is also available, containing trailers, release date listings and the ability to rate games you're interested in - similar to the Nintendo Channel service on Wii.

The 3DS uses the NetFront brower - the same as the PlayStation 3. It can run in the background, allowing players to switch between it and the current game in progress

The browser displays MPO, GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP and ICO image files. HTML4.01, XHTML1.1, CSS1, CSS2.1, CSS3, DOM1-3, ECMAScript, XMLHttpRequest and canvas support is also included.

But no Flash. It's like having an ad block built in.
