    OH MY!!

Imagine how good it would be if Ensemble Studios did a Halo RTS...

Yes this is only a CGI trailer but it sets the scene for an epic AAA title.
    Colour me very excited.

Definitely looks as generic as the original Halo alright.
  • Blerk #4 6 years ago

Hmm. Somehow I suspect this isn't the Halo most people were wanting.

    Heh, looks great :-D

Love the idea of the game, but watching CGI 'movies' bores me to tears these days. Which really, really worries me with the PS3 and blu-ray in mind. 49gb of the shite, 1gb of game

    oh wow. Oh my..
I actually this makes me think the film could be the best thing ever created.. christ

Actually, I want a Halo RTS.

    Nicely put together CGI too.
  • nickthegun #9 6 years ago

Meh. I dont care if its generic. Hell, I dont even care if its dawn of war with Humans and Convenant replacing Space Marines and Chaos......

Yeah, draw a bullseye on my back and call me the target audience.....

how will a rts play on a gamepad? I know lord of the rings have been done but that was a totally meh! experience.

    K&M support??

does this remind anyone else of the new battlestar galactica battle sequences?
looks cool though aprt from the team americaesqe 'if they want war...' line

    ensemble... check

    bungie... check

    halo setting and soundtrack... check

PC and 360 (already successfully accomplished with LOR, and that was an EA product!)... check

Oh my, with wh40k, empire at wars (yeah i liked it!), company of heroes and now this, finally we RTS addicts have something amazing to play.

Now if only blizzard would announce something not wow related...

    too... much... cheese...
  • Frogger #14 6 years ago

"If they want war, we'll giv'em war"
Was this line written by Donald Rumsfeld himself ?
  • MyPointIs #15 6 years ago

Problem is ... RTS needs COLOR
  • ArcMonkey #16 6 years ago

Makes me look forward to the movie, rather to the game...

Still, they could make an effort to avoid the cliches...

"If they want war, we'll give 'em war!"

On the other hand, how imaginative can a castrated cyborg marine be?

Ensemble can make a great product for sure. My only worry is that Halo is strictly a 2 faction universe... and 3-4 faction are needed for a succesful and varied enough multiplayer RTS.

    Still, I'm curious about this...

So have they announced how the controls are supposed to work? I don't really see how this won't crash and burn like every other rts on a console before it. Of course it is Halo so it's pretty much guaranteed to sell by the buckload

They could do the Flood as well -

It may be that the game is more scenario based, with a proper plot and set piece encounters, rather than the usual skirmish and multi-player focus.

In which case the Flood would fit in fine.

Could be squad based like Dawn of War or Company of Heroes. That makes selection easier and less fiddly, more suited to joypad use.

Probably the most uninspired, generic and clichéd trailer I have ever seen. Yup, it's a HALO spinoff alright.

Spartans are supposed to be very rarem dont cheapen them by havign whole disposable platoons :(

    Otherwise aces.!

    @neuroniky -

Don't forget about the Flood and the Sentinels too. And after the end of Halo 2, the Covenant forces might be split into 2 different factions.

As for the video, yes it looks good, but I don't trust FMV. I'll have to wait before I see proper in-game goodies before I even dream about getting excited over this.

I love listening to other people talk with full on geek intensity about mythologys I have absolutely no clue on whatsoever. It's gives me a close approximation of what I must sound like when I talk about Warhammer...

Yeh, but they weren't around when the war started eh?
  • SentientNr6 #26 6 years ago

Well they got a cool licence here, but it wont be easy to make a good rts on a console. And AoE III being a letdown, I'll not get excited unless it's any good. ;)

True, but I don't think this game will be based around the 'real' Halo timeline, as the Spartan-II's never went to war with the Covenant. In the booklet for Halo 1 it says they engaged in 'test' battles against the Covenant, but Reach was destroyed before the Spartan army could be deployed.

The Chief was the first Spartan-II who fought the Covenant to any great extent.

They have already said the game will take place b4 the original halo
