I fancy playing this again before the new version. My copy is in storage until I move flat next week, so I'll post in the VF5 group if anyone is up for a game next week. my gamertag is in my profile if you'd like to play as I have no idea what the online community is like these days.

Shame his talk is dubbed and not subbed.

And I agree with Brodie, the FF advert is the worst.

I can't wait for the download only VF5 Final Showdown to hit PSN/Live in the summer, and it is great to see developer diary on EG's frontpage.

It would be nice if EG did a little bit of text to supplement the video like for people unfamiliar with the game series, with a tagline AM2 dead or alive? And accompany text something like:

Virtua Fighter 5 launched as a timed exclusive on PS3 in February 2007 as an arcade perfect revision B release, a modified port adding online play of revision C was then released in October 2007 for the 360 and these game revisions are the only option for Virtua Fighter 5 players outside of Japan arcades to enjoy VF5 to date.

The Japanese arcade has since seen further D revisions to console version of Virtua Fighter 5, and whole versions (&revisions) updates in the form of Virtua Fighter 5R, in which Jean Kujo was added, who practices Karate, and the sumo wrestler Taka-Arashi who was reintroduced to the series; both are visible in this video of latest arcade version Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown revision A; along with Akira, shaolin monk Lei Fei, and Ninja Kage maru.

The summer release with be download only and will be providing the much revered online play that current 360 players can enjoy, to both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 alike.

Always been the best beat em up. DOA closesly second for me but VF will always be my fave

Certainly my favourite 3D fighter over say, Tekken. DOA follows closely but VF some how requires more technical skill (and is also taken more seriously !)

    Cannot wait for this.

My purchase of a PS3 4 years ago was partially based on the d-pad being far more suitable for this than the 360's controller.

Thanks to the openness of the PS3 i now play my fighters with a USB Saturn pad, so it's gonna be extra sweet come release.

The comment in the video around 3:50 about a shift from hard body physics to soft body physics is the aspect of Virtua Fighter 5 that blew me away most, coming from years of playing Tekken 2 and SC 2 and really allows it to separate itself from being just another fighter.

Even today when I fire up VF5b I'm still impressed by how it looks when the intro kicks in which I can't say for too many games from 2007. I've looked at DOA games since, and think they are definitely impressive but lack VF's weightyness on the impacts. imo for me its 1v1 yomi is still the only game in town, even if hinder by its modest following outside Japan.
