hmmm. I'm not convinced. The environment looks kind of samey. I'm sure I saw really obvious pop in too. I'm glad there's a demo.

Are other users looking at the same footage?

That looked brilliant to me! Semi-open environments with tactically diverse options for combat.

    DAY 1!

I must admit, it does look like an awful lot of fun.

Looks pretty good actually. Lot better than expected. Let's hope the controls are responsive. Input lag always ruined Killzone for me.

Looks pretty good to me. Hope there is a singleplayer demo for the 360/PS3/PC so I can see which version I will get.

Played the Multiplayer Demo and after initially hating it really got into it.

This looks quiet good Crysis seems to have a different pace to that of Halo Reach (Which I also enjoy)

I just hope the enemy AI can put up a better fight of it than they are here? (Hopefully this is on a low setting....)

"hmmm. I'm not convinced. The environment looks kind of samey. I'm sure I saw really obvious pop in too. I'm glad there's a demo"

Isn't that a phrase we could use for MOST of the FPS games within the last 3 years?

It looks really enjoyable and could be a really good laugh. As that's all I really look for in games, I'll be happy (not to mention we're getting Timesplitters Futurisitc Battlesuit Lite with this one as well)

If they bring Crysis from the PC to the console successfully then I'm a happy man! Crysis killed my PC and since then I've never bothered upgrading the PC. So quite looking forward to getting back to the Crysis world on the 360 or PS3 (Prolly 360 for me as Im an achievements slut).

Graphically it's nice for a console, not mind-blowing and not a patch on the original Crysis. There's no getting around the fact that large flat static surfaces that make up the buildings are far easier to render but far less interesting than dense, lush, constantly moving jungle. Gameplay wise there were a few nice touches but nothing particularly new or exciting. I'm kinda with Fluffy on this, certainly not a step forward imho.

Dunno why people think the linearity is a step back. Crysis didn't need to be so open and it had no variation. Once you'd laid siege to one flimsy wooden hideout in the jungle, did you really need to do it another 20 times? And who cares if this doesn't look quite as nice? The reason this doesn't look as nice is so that people actually get a playable framerate.

This looks much more up my street.

After watching this video, I've decided to buy this at launch. Looks leagues ahead of any other console game in terms of graphics. Looks like alot of fun too.

    @FluffyTucker

I think calling it a 'corridor shooter' is a bit harsh. Sure, its not as open as Crysis but it's far more open than COD for example (which I would call a corridor shooter). There's a middle ground, which is where Crysis 2 seems to be from what I've seen.

    I'm looking forward to it.

Is it me or does it look too blurry? Looking forward to this, but from that video it doesnt look great.
  • kirankara #16 1 year ago

does look blurry as hell , im hoping the footage itself isnt high res

"The environment looks kind of samey"

It's set in a city, what are you expecting? They've done a great job of making some realistic environments with lots of scenery and objects and massive architecture.

"could wander around wherever you wanted in the previous game."

That's not really accurate. Crysis was a corridor shooter, it just happened to have very wide corridors which housed a sandbox. You always had an end point, and in many cases could not back track. What it did was give options of how you got to an objective, so whole groups of enemies could be avoided by taking an alternate route. That is definitely scaled back in Crysis 2, but it has maintained the best bit of the first two games by giving lots of choices about how to tackle the enemy.

It looks ok. I would put the blurriness down to low bitrate encoding rather than anything else. Even the EA logo at the start is blurry.

Now I need to decide if I get this on PS3 or PC... I will try both demos when they come out. I should probably finish Crysis at some point too...
  • kirankara #19 1 year ago

kinda what i figured chess, as it doesnt seem remotely sharp at all, almost ps2 esque in terms of resolution and texture retail, but time will tell. Looking forward to trying demo, though i remain skeptical after 360 one being laggy as hell

@Xensor: No it's not. It's far, far harder to get a city level to look good.

We need DF on the case of crysis 2 in a three way dance between the PC PS3 and XB360 asap! fully finished Gold code too. - make it happen!
  • SaberEdge #23 1 year ago

I'm getting this for sure. I've had my eye on it for a while and have become more and more convinced every time I see it.
