Firstly, the EG review is terrible. Yet one more review that seems to be more about tearing a gear apart, than trying to review it farily.
I ripped through it over the weekend. Firstly, the core of the game, the mechanics, the combat etc, it rates as a 7 or 8 out of ten game. But when you put the layer of story and character on it, and you're a tf fan, this is a 9 out of ten game. Combat is a little old school, cover is literally standing behind something, not pressing the cover button. Theres very rarely tonnes of ammo around, so you need to be careful, but no so careful that everyshoot needs to count. The health regen is a bit annoying though.
The bosses are unreal, the cyber slug, and trypticon stand out.
There is real weight to the robots, but vehicles are a little floating. The jets dont seem fast, and the cars can slip off track very easy.
Banter among megatron and his crew is fantastic, and two moments had me laughing out loud.
If you're a TF fan, it doesnt really follow any lore. It doesn't match how the G1 cartoon started, or the Dreamwave/IDW comics. It could sort of, tie into the movies, but only just.
In saying that though, as a game, i loved it. I'd recommend it to anyone

Case and point with this game is that I only just today managed to get a copy and everywhere (including Adsa and Tesco) had sold out of both 360 and ps3 versions on the release day and the fact it's come so heigh in the charts kinda slaps the EG review right in the face
